If every hour is optimized, when do you get to live?

An efficient day can become strangely difficult to interrupt. A friend calls and you calculate the delay. You linger over lunch and feel behind. Nothing has gone wrong with the schedule; something has gone missing from what the schedule is allowed to value.

Structure can protect a life you enjoy. The question is whether enjoyment must always submit a request first. Leave one part of the day without a job, and notice what happens when you do not immediately turn that space into recovery, learning, or improvement.

What is allowed to interrupt your efficiency without needing an excuse?
