icharles.com is run by Charles Botensten (“iCharles”, “we”, “us”), 1460 Broadway, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10036. By using the site, subscribing or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the services.
What these terms cover
These terms cover the public website (articles, the newsletter, daily reflections and tools), email subscriptions, Life OS at icharles.com/life, the apps at icharles.com/apps, the Ask Todd assistant and booking pages. Consulting work is covered by the separate written agreement described below.
Email subscriptions
You choose what you receive (newsletter, articles, reflections) and confirm your address first. Every email has a link to change your choices or unsubscribe. We may stop sending a list at any time.
Life OS and iCharles apps
Life OS is offered as a private preview, and some apps are early. Features can change, and we may pause or end access with notice where we reasonably can. You’re responsible for your sign-in and for what you store and share. You keep ownership of your content; you give us permission to store, process and display it only to run the service for you.
Don’t use the services to break the law, harm others, send spam, upload malware, probe or overload our systems, or access another person’s account. We may suspend accounts that do.
Paid features, if offered, show their price before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe, and any refund terms are shown at checkout.
Ask Todd and booking
Ask Todd is an AI assistant. Its answers can be wrong; check anything important with us directly. When you book a call, you agree to receive confirmation and reminder emails about it. Please give notice if you need to cancel; the booking page lets you reschedule or cancel.
Consulting
The free stack teardown is a no-obligation conversation. Any paid work is done only under a separate written proposal or agreement that sets out its scope, price, schedule and ownership. If that agreement differs from these terms, the agreement controls for that work.
Our content and marks
The site’s design, writing, artwork and software are owned by Charles Botensten or used with permission. “iCharles” and “Life OS” are our names; please don’t use them in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Links to other sites
We link to sources and services we don’t control. We aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimers
The services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don’t promise the services will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim about the free services is limited to $100, and for paid services to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending use
You can stop using the services and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability, governing law) do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts in New York County, New York, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on the site or by email before it takes effect. Using the services after that means you accept the update.
