Invitations and obligations can make a decision for you one appointment at a time. You may never choose to spend the month this way. You simply keep accepting things until there is no month left to choose with.

Some commitments are necessary and some are generous. But before filling the next opening, ask what you would have put there if nobody had asked for it. Your answer does not automatically outrank other people. It belongs in the conversation with them.
