The point of a system is to give your attention back.
A system can become another place that needs tending. You polish labels, clear badges, and adjust views until the tool has acquired its own daily demands. Meanwhile, the thing it was meant to help you do waits outside it.
Periodically ask what the system lets you stop remembering. If the answer is very little, simplify a part of it. Useful structure should reduce the burden of carrying your life around in your head. Its elegance matters less than the attention it makes available elsewhere.
What does your system genuinely let you stop thinking about?
