The most productive thing in your calendar might be the space you leave empty.

Empty time rarely looks impressive on a calendar. It has no deliverable to announce. Yet it is often where you notice the question you have been answering incorrectly, or have a conversation that does not end when the next alert rings.
Not every open hour needs to produce insight to justify itself. If you immediately give it a purpose, you may rebuild the pressure you meant to remove. Protect some space because you want a day with room in it, even if nothing remarkable happens there.
Can you leave an hour open without deciding what it must give back?
